Polypropylene [PP]

Polypropylene (PP) is a moisture-resistant material with high chemical and corrosion resistance, suitable for thermoforming. It is weldable and offers good electrical insulation. Its low density makes it cost-effective, and it is available in two types: homopolymer (PP-H) and copolymer (PP-C).

  • PP’s high thermal expansion and reduction in mechanical properties at elevated temperatures should be considered during design.
  • Excessive heating should be avoided during machining and welding. Parts with tight tolerances should be stored on flat, supported surfaces.
  • PP is used in chemical production, food processing, storage, and medical applications.
  • It is also commonly chosen for pump components, chemical storage tanks, chemical ventilation units, and valve bodies.
