Polyamide-imide [PAI]
Advanced Engineering Plastics 425°C
- Very high maximum allowable service temperature in air [250 °C continuously]
- Excellent retention of mechanical strength, stiffness and creep resistance over a wide temperature range
- Excellent wear & frictional behavior [particularly Duratron™ T4301 & T4501 PAI]
- Superb dimensional stability up to 250 °C
- Inherent low flammability
- Very good UV-resistance
- Exceptional resistance against high energy radiation [gamma- and X-rays]
- Since PAI has relatively high moisture absorption, parts with tight tolerances or parts exposed to high operating temperatures should be kept dry before assembly and stored in sealed packaging.
- Moisture-containing parts may deform due to thermal shock if suddenly exposed to temperatures above 200 °C. Parts should therefore be properly dried before use.
- PAI components, which absorb moisture relatively easily, should be kept dry before installation if intended for high-temperature service or produced to tight tolerances.
- Rapid exposure to temperatures above 200 °C can cause deformation due to thermal shock.
